Terms and Conditions of participation in the University Blood Donation Cup

Article 1 – Organiser of the event

The University Blood Donation Cup is organized by Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University (FM MU), supporting the statutory city of Brno’s campaign “Donating blood for Brno”. Alongside this campaign, a donation event called “4,5 dl for life”, aimed at public sector, university sector and others has been announced. For the university sector, it is the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University, under the patronage of its Dean, Martin Repko, that has the honour of putting “The University Blood Donation Cup” into practice.

The University Blood Donation Cup (further referred to as “the event”) is organized by the Faculty of Medicine MU (further referred to as “the organiser”) that provides the activities contained in following articles of terms and conditions.

Article 2 – The aim of the event

The aim of the event is:

  • To gain new voluntary donors of blood or blood components who will not receive financial compensation
  • Motivate current blood and blood component donors
  • Shed light on the shortage of blood and blood component donors and the permanent need (that is now even higher) of blood and blood components not only in Brno, but throughout the Czech Republic
  • Support a sense of community between students, employees and graduates with their University
  • Support the “Donating blood for Brno” donor campaign of statutory city of Brno
Article 3 – Participants of the event

Any natural person that meets these terms and conditions can become a participant of the event.

Article 4 – Time and location of the event

The event is announced for the period of 1st October 2020 – 30th April 2021, and is meant for participants, who voluntarily donate blood or blood components in any blood collection centre in the Czech Republic. Participants, who donate blood or blood components in one of Brno’s blood collection centres can also take part in the statutory city of Brno donor event “4,5 dl for life”.

Article 5 – Conditions of participation

5.1 Conditions for participation in the event are:

- The participant is aged 18 years or above

- The participant is a student, employee or graduate of University located in Brno

5.2 The participant has donated blood or blood component on the date stated at the application form.

5.3 Participation requires that the participant fills in the application form at the website of the event: https://pohardarovanikrve.cz, states their e-mail (for communication in case of winning a prize) and meets the terms and conditions. Considering the fact, that the minimum interval between subsequent blood donations is 3 months, and in the case of blood components, at least 14 days. Participants can sign up multiple times.

5.4 Confirmation of voluntary blood or blood component collection that the participant stated in their application will be checked by the organiser against the list of blood collections at the particular transfusion ward within the period of 1st October 2020 – 30th April 2021 (as well as donor certificate). This certificate will be issued by a transfusion ward upon request.

5.5 In case of violation of any of the stated rules by the participant, they will be disqualified by the organiser.

Article 6 - General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

6.1 By signing up for the event, the participant acknowledges that the Faculty of Medicine MU as the controller of personal data will process personal data disclosed by the participant. That is in the extent of: name, surname, zip code of permanent address, date of birth, e-mail address, category, group, order of the registration for a donation and other information about the donation (further referred to as “personal data”) for the purpose of this event. Without disclosing this data, a participant cannot be registered for the event.

6.2 By taking part in the event, the participant acknowledges that the personal data provided by them will be processed by Faculty of Medicine MU in accordance with the regulation of EU Parliament 2016/679 from 27th April 2016 regarding the protection of natural persons in relation to the processing of their personal data and the free movement of such data and about the repeal of Directive 95/46/ES and Act 110/2019 Coll., on the processing of personal data, as amended.

6.3 Personal data Faculty of Medicine MU collected about participants will not be provided to third parties, except where there is an obligation required by law.

Article 7 – Winning and prize

7.1 The main prize in this event is the University Blood Donation Cup. The trophy of the University Blood Donation Cup will be awarded to all the Universities located in the city of Brno taking part by symbolic expression of support of the event. The number of registered participants from each University does not play a part.

7.2 For natural persons – registered participants – there is another type of prize prepared – a limited number of gift packages (further referred to as “prizes”). Winners of these prizes will be drawn during or at the end of the event.

7.3 Collection of prizes is possible till 31st August 2021 at a location to be confirmed by the organiser alongside an email notification to prize winners.

Article 8 – Inclusion into the prize draw

All the participants properly registered within the period of the event (1st October 2020 – 30th April 2021) that donated blood or blood components (plasma, blood cells) voluntarily, at least once, will be included into the prize draw. Participants that signed up multiple times will be included into the prize draw multiple times, according to the number of applications and associated voluntary blood or blood component donations during the event. All applications are assigned a number, generated according to the order of the application.

Article 9 – Announcement of results

The results will be announced 14 days after the end of the event on the event website. Afterwards, the trophies will be awarded to Universities after mutual agreement.

Article 10 – Prize draw and prize winners

10.1 The prize draw will take place attended by representatives of statutory city of Brno and representatives of event organiser during the month of May 2021, but not later than 31st May 2021. Every entry included in the prize draw will be given a number identical to application number of the participant. The prize draw will take place by drawing a random ticket from the drawing drum.

10.2 Winners will be informed by the organiser immediately after the draw via the e-mail address provided in their application and will be invited to prize collection.

10.3 During the prize collection, the participant will present a donation certificate according to Article 5, point 2. In case the participant does not present a donation certificate, the prize cannot be collected.

10.4 In case the winner does not collect the prize from the organiser by 31st August 2021, the claim is invalidated, and the organiser is authorised to select a new winner according to the rules.

10.5 In case the new winner does not collect the prize from the organiser by 30th November 2021, the claim is invalidated.

Article 11 – Final provisions

11.1 The results of the event announced by the organiser are final. It is not possible to exchange prizes or pay out cash in exchange for material prizes. Prizes cannot be enforced in court.

11.2 The costs associated with claiming or collecting the prize shall be borne by the winner. Winnings are not subject to taxation in accordance with applicable law.

11.3 Individuals who do not meet the conditions for participation in the event, or act in violation of these rules, will be excluded from the event. If such a person, notwithstanding the above, is identified as the winner, they lose the right to claim prize and the organiser will be entitled to determine a new winner in accordance with these rules.

11.4 The organiser is entitled to exclude any participant from the event, whom it finds has committed unfair conduct; or has grounds of reasonable suspicion of committing unfair conduct in connection with participation in the event.

11.5 The organiser's decisions to exclude such participants from the event are final.

11.6 The organiser is not responsible for any technical problems associated with participation in the event.

11.7 The organiser reserves the right to terminate or interrupt the event in exceptional cases.

11.8 The organiser reserves the right to change the rules of the event, or technical or organisational security of the event; in that case, the change shall take effect from the date of its publication.

11.9 These rules are published on the event's website https://pohardarovanikrve.cz, where any changes to these rules and other information concerning the event will also be published.
